The End of the Begining.

The time has come to say goodbye for the five week volunteers here at Baie Ternay. This past week has been chock full of diving: everyone has finally started surveying. We headed out to a few different survey sites including our first ever outside of the Baie. Willy’s Bay Point and Willy’s Bay Reef offered us a chance to dive some place new, although both sites were rather barren in comparison to the diversity of Baie Ternay.

On Wednesday folks leaving went on a fun dive near Conception Island which had a wonderful variety of fish life: everything from horned rays to palette surgeons to a giant titan trigger fish. After that, everyone worked together in the kitchen to put together a wonderful barbecue.

At nightfall, we watched a slideshow of all the pictures gathered since the beginning of the expedition, and then ate all the delicious food that we had spent the afternoon preparing.

Today, after having cleaned camp, we’re going to the waterfall in Port Launey to enjoy one last afternoon with all our new friends. Those who are staying on look forward to welcoming the new expedition members tomorrow for five more weeks of everything GVI Seychelles has to offer.
