Down To Business in Seychelles.

With the weekend approaching here at Cap Ternay we can look back with a sense of satisfaction after what has been an extremely enjoyable and productive week two. Congratulations go out to all seven of our newly qualified PADI Advanced Open Water divers, who have also successfully completed the Coral Reef Research Diver specialty certification.

The last seven days has also witnessed the completion of the Emergency First Response course and the start of the BTEC programmes in Biological Survey Techniques and Team Leadership.

The additional workload has not been at the expense of studying, and the fish workshops have now all been completed. Everyone has been rewarded for his or her hard work with some great dives. This week has seen us visit the dive site ‘Lighthouse’ for the first time as we have gone in search of different fish species.

On nearly every occasion we have seen numerous spotted eagle rays alongside devil rays, humphead wrasse and turtles. The area also appears to support a healthy population of whitetip reef sharks, with three different individuals seen on one particular dive. It is fantastic to see sharks on the reef at a time when their numbers are declining around the world and is testament to the value of Marine Protected Areas in preserving species diversity.
