The Seychelles Regatta

This week the annual Seychelles regatta took place over Saturday and Sunday to raise money for the Seychelles round table. The event takes place in Beau Vallon bay and hosts up to twenty thousand people with many stalls and activities.

GVI Seychelles were there to do their bit with the infamous sponge throwing game. Staff and volunteers took itin turns to have wet sponges shaped like marine creatures thrown at them in the name oif charity.

As well as the sponge game GVI helped out in the childrens playground. It was great fun watching the kids on the bouncy castle and trampoline.

Two of our members (Nicky Krout and Rob Vening) decided to take part in the gruelling 10km run. Both of them did extremely well against some top athletes on what was a very hot day. Well done guys!

In the evening the crowds were treated to an international boxing match between the Seychelles and Mauritius as well as live music from local artists. It was a fantastic weekend and we helped raise some much needed money for a good cause. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, we could'nt have done it without you.
