05/08/11 The Cap Ternay 'Amazing Race'

On August 19th and 20th the GVI Seychelles, Cap Ternay expedition will be taking part in our own version of the game show ‘The Amazing Race’ to raise money for the President’s Village Children’s Home.

Eight teams consisting of three volunteers and a staff member will have two days to complete a total of ten challenges around Mahe island and beyond. Each challenge will require a photograph as proof of completion and the first team to complete all ten tasks will be declared the winner.

Each team will be given five tasks to complete on the morning of Friday August 19th with the first team to return to base earning themselves a 15 minute head start for Saturday morning. The second team back will start Saturday 15 minutes before the third team back and so on, so there is a huge incentive to do well on the Friday.

The five tasks for the first day are as follows:

  • Build a turtle sandcastle on Beau Vallon Beach
  • Take a photo of a real Giant Tortoise
  • Purchase a postcard of a Coco de Mer
  • Climb to the top of Cap Matoopa
  • Have your photo taken eating a Sun Coco Burger while sat on a Crocodile

The challenges will require each team to race around Mahe Island and will require speed, the use of initiative and will test their knowledge of the Seychelles. At times they may need to run, climb, crawl or swim but above all they will need to stick together. The tasks for the second day will be given to each team immediately before setting off on the Saturday morning.
