27/06/13 Gaius' Raft Race Blog

Hello everybody! Last weekend we took part in the 2nd annual Raft Race for Rupees and it turned out to be a fantastic. Everybody put a lot of effort into making their rafts (well all that they could!) and they all turned out pretty well considering we are no raft making experts!
My raft and team, Smoke On The Water, were pretty much outright winners of the GVI Cap Ternay expedition teams in close contention with the Dive Masters team. We pulled through the pain in our arms to deliver a scorching time and in the end, beat all other teams at base by 70 points!!! The race was great for everyone though and we had a huge amount of fun and raised a whopping 1100GBP for the Presidents Village Children’s Home. The money raised will go towards the installation of a renewable energy program there.
I would like to thank all of the staff who were involved with the raft race and made all the difference to our success (especially Carly!!!!).

Well done all! But .... Divemasters won; divemaster interns (
Aka Smoke on the Water) were runners up ..... Do I detect an unfair advantage? Or is there a genetic disposition rather than more practice?
