03/07/13 My first week at GVI Cap Ternay

If you are looking to help out somewhere in the world with marine conservation then this is the place to do it from the gorgeous bays to the dense jungles here on Mahe is one of the best places to be in the world.
Ive been here a week and I love it, I have been doing my open water advanced training mostly in the first week and I have also had a lot of orientations for different things such as, identification of fish which was really interesting to see how many different fish there are in such a small bit of the ocean, also I loved the coconut husking orientation as well was very interesting and funny to watch the staff struggle to open them!
The food on base is basic but with the right motivation there can be some pretty good recipes.
My favourite thing about GVI so far is how good the staff are with the new people that arrive on base and the old volunteer’s to, they all make it very welcoming and they are very approachable if you need anything the dive officers are a right laugh and will make this stay even better than I already know its going to be.
