16/04/12 Arriving in the Seychelles
I’m not sure yet if the realisation that this is paradise has hit me yet. This is the place you will see in movies, dreams and is what you picture when you hear the word ‘paradise’, and every time I surface from a dive I look around me to check that it all was not in fact a movie or a dream. And there everything still is – the clear turquoise waters, the silhouettes of two islands on the horizon, the smooth granite rock face looming out of the water, surrounded by palm trees and the bright white sands of an isolated beach. It’s a lot to take in and I’m still getting used to it. The first thing to hit you when you arrive is the heat. Do not do what I did and pack a pair of jeans and a 5mm semi-dry wetsuit. I’ve only worn my bathers diving in the 30˚C waters. Do not ask me what I was thinking when I packed.
